Get ready for a spectacular route in the north of Tenerife that combines history, culture and nature! Today I take you on a tour between La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz, two jewels you can't miss if you are looking for authentic experiences on the island.
1. La Orotava
La Orotava is a place that mixes tradition, architecture and breathtaking landscapes. Located in the beautiful valley that bears its name, this municipality stretches from the coast to the peaks of Teide, covering 70% of the Teide National Park. So if you like hiking trails and mountain scenery, this is your place!
The best way to approach the Orotava Valley is from the heights, even if that means leaving the comfortable highway and adding a good number of kilometers and minutes to the route we propose today. The TF 21 runs along much of the northern facade of Tenerife at medium altitude and linking the main towns in the area.
El Mirador de Humboldt is by far one of the most beautiful of the island and also the best way to understand the Orotava Valley. Here we will not only be able to see a panoramic view from the summits of El Teide to the beach of Puerto de la Cruz. Here we will realize that the north of Tenerife lacks something: a good piece of island.

Things you can't miss in La Orotava:
Historic Center: Walk through its cobblestone streets and visit the Church of San Agustín, the Liceo de Taoro and the Casa de los Balcones. Every corner has its charm and tells stories of the glorious past of the wine trade.
Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción: Considered the best example of baroque in the Canary Islands, it is popularly known as the "Cathedral of La Orotava". An ideal place for lovers of architecture and history.
Water Mills: A reminder of the area's agricultural past. The mills are part of a "water way" that used to feed the milling industry in the region.
Traditional Festivities: If you are lucky, you can coincide with the festivities of Corpus Christi or the Pilgrimage of San Isidro Labrador, events that show the best of Canarian culture.

2. Puerto de La Cruz
