Learn to surf at Playa de las Américas with K16 Surf School, the official school of the Canary Surf Federation that’s been teaching here for 21 years. 🌊

You’ll get two hours in the water, with a max of six students per instructor, plus all the gear you need: board, wetsuit, and booties. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been on a board before.

Classes start from just €40, and it’s cheaper if you come back for more. Book at reception or hit us up on WhatsApp. 🏄

🌊 Surfing in Tenerife is centered around Playa de las Américas, and that’s where we hold our classes: at Playa de Las Américas, with K16 Surf School, the official school of the Canary Surf Federation, and 21 years of experience on that beach.

🗺 How to get there. From Adeje Nest Hostel, it’s about a 20-minute walk downhill. From Duque Nest Hostel, you can take a short taxi ride or a bus along the coast. Just ask at reception, and we’ll help you find a taxi with others going to the same session. K16 Surf School is located at Calle México 47 (El Camisón).

What the classes are like. You’ll spend two hours in the water, with one instructor for every six students, plus all the gear provided: board, wetsuit, and booties. If you’d rather have it just for you, there’s a private class with one instructor per student. Available for ages 16 and up.

⌚ Schedule. We have two or three sessions a day, and they change with the tides: the first one usually starts around 8:30 AM, and the afternoon sessions are between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM. On weekends, they start a bit later. We’ll confirm your time when you book — the tide calls the shots, not the clock.

💰 Prices. 40€ for a single class, 114€ for a pack of 3, 185€ for 5, and 360€ for 10. The private class is 90€.

FAQ's

How do I get to the class? Will you pick me up at the hostel?

There's no pickup: you'll make your own way to the K16 shop at Mexico Street 47 (El Camisón), Playa de las Américas. It’s about a 20-minute walk downhill from Adeje Nest; from Duque Nest, you can grab a short taxi or a bus along the coast. Just let us know at reception, and we’ll help you arrange a taxi with others from the same session.

What time is the class?

There are two or three sessions a day, and they change with the tide, so the schedule isn’t fixed. The first one usually kicks off around 8:30, and the afternoon sessions are between 16:00 and 18:30. On weekends, they start later. We’ll confirm your exact time when you book.

How many people are in each group?

There’s a maximum of six students per instructor. If you have more, they’ll split you up and bring in another instructor, so there’s always someone correcting your technique. The class lasts 2 hours and includes a board, wetsuit, and booties. If you want a private instructor just for you, a private lesson costs €90.

Are there photos and videos of the class?

There are photographers working on the beach, but their services aren’t included in the class. K16 will give you their contact info, and you can buy the photos directly from them if you’d like.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes, group classes are for ages 16 and up. If you’re traveling with little ones, just drop us a message, and we can share the options.

Can’t I just rent a board and learn on my own?

You can, but it’s way easier to learn with someone guiding you at first. You’ll get the theory and practical skills to keep going on your own, instead of picking up bad habits that are hard to shake off later.

How do I book and pay?

Just stop by the reception of any of our hostels or shoot us a message on WhatsApp, and we’ll sort it out from there.
