🎃 Halloween in Gran Canaria 2026: parties, Noche de Finaos and plans in Las Palmas

Halloween in Gran Canaria 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31, and here the night has two names. The traditional one is Finaos: the eve of All Souls’, with chestnuts and street parties in the town squares. The imported one fills the nightclubs of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with techno until 8 a.m. included. And Monday, November 2 is a public holiday in the Canary Islands.

Here’s the city’s festivities, the local traditions, the non-club plans, the trip to the south, and how to get back home at dawn.

Halloween Parties in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 🎃

The capital is the place to be on the night of the 31st: techno in a tunnel in Vegueta and in an industrial estate, reggaeton and house at Sugar, rock with a costume contest on Friday, and even Mónica Naranjo at the Anexo del Estadio. Several venues require you to be over 18, so check the listing before you buy.

At the end of the section, there are two parties outside the city, in Telde and El Puertillo (Arucas). And if you’re staying a few more days, the rest of the autumn is on our Gran Canaria 2026 festivals and events calendar.

Asymetric: Tunnelvisions

Nine hours of techno, from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., and an afterhour after that. The promoter sets it up in a 65-metre tunnel with a Funktion-One sound wall, and the exact spot only gets sent by email to people who have a ticket.

HALLOWEEN EN SUGAR

Reggaeton and house from 10 pm to 4 am, on Halloween night at Sugar Las Palmas. Two websites are selling the same ticket at different prices, so compare before you pay.

BLACK MASK HALLOWEEN by SUGAR (provisional)

The warm-up, two nights before: a masquerade party on Thursday the 29th at Sugar. The venue hands out around 400 masks to the first people through the door, and black is mandatory.

It’s not a Halloween party, but it’s the city’s big concert that same night. If you’re all about screaming the lyrics before heading out, your Saturday starts right here.

SANSA HALLOWEEN EDITION 2026 (provisional)

Halloween kicks off in the afternoon at the Muelle Deportivo, and it’s 25+ only. Heads up: you don’t just buy a ticket here. You request one, and you only get charged if they accept your request.

Marttein in the Canaries (provisional)

It’s not a Halloween night either: it’s the first Canary Islands date of an Argentine artist, right in the heart of Vegueta, with a beer included in the ticket. For those who’d rather go to a concert than wear a costume.

GUAYOTA FEST: Revenge and Desire, Hellcyon y Melasuda (provisional)

Friday’s plan for guitar lovers: a costume party with three live bands from the islands and a costume contest, with merch as the prize.

ESCALANIFINAOS (provisional)

The name says it all: Halloween with a nod to the Finaos. It’s a costume party at Sala Faro, and the venue hasn’t shared anything else yet.

MANICOMIO TECHNO – HALLOWEEN IN GRAN CANARIA (provisional)

The techno night on the 31st, out in the El Sebadal industrial area: the page promises eight hours of darkness, “until the sun comes up.” No poster or organizer has been published yet.

And two parties outside the city. Both are a day trip: check how you’re getting there and, more importantly, how you’re getting back before you buy anything.

UNIVERSITY HALLOWEEN XL 2026, in Telde

The big university party on the 31st, with an open bar included at entry, three zones, a “living cemetery” and food trucks. It’s going fast: one of the two websites has already sold out eight price tiers.

SELVÁTICA – DAY OF THE DEAD, at El Puertillo (Arucas) (provisional)

An afternoon-into-night by the sea on the north coast, with Mexico’s Day of the Dead as the theme and afro house playing in the background. It kicks off at 4 pm and wraps up at 1 am.

The Night of Finaos: Canary Islands’ Halloween 🌰

Long before pumpkins showed up, the Canary Islands were already celebrating Día de los Finaos, or Finados (the Canary government spells it both ways). It’s the festival the islands use to honor their dead between October 31 and November 2, and its heart is the night of the 31st, the eve of All Saints’ Day.

That night, families and friends would gather to share stories and seasonal food; over time, music and drinks were added too. From this tradition also come the ranchos de ánimas: groups that sing for the departed and hand over what they collect to the parishes for masses for the souls. Three of them still survive in Gran Canaria: those of Arbejales-Teror, La Aldea de San Nicolás and Valsequillo.

Today the town councils are bringing the Finaos out to the square. These are the ones that already have dates:

Finaos Festival in Vega de San Mateo

Los Finaos the way they’ve always been enjoyed: a village square up in the medianías, roasted chestnuts, local wine and two parrandas playing live. If you’re only going to leave the city once, make it this one.

NOCHE FINAOS in Telde

Telde has it on its autumn cultural calendar: Saturday the 31st, in San Juan square. What’s happening that night hasn’t been announced yet.

Finaween 2026 (provisional)

Finaos on a budget, but make it young: the Youth department of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council is running free afternoon programs on the 30th and 31st. Read the fine print, though: it’s only for ages 12 to 30.

And what about the night in the capital? The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council, which calls theirs «Noche de Finados», hadn’t announced this year’s programme yet when we checked this guide. As soon as it’s out, we’ll add it here.

Valleseco, Arucas, Firgas, Santa María de Guía, Agaete, Valsequillo, Santa Brígida, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and Mogán didn’t have a Finaos programme published either. Teror and Agüimes have announced other plans, which you’ll find below, but not their Finaos night.

Halloween plans without the club 👻

Halloween isn’t just about the dance floor. There are haunted houses in Gáldar and Ingenio, a horror film festival in Teror, a creepy circus in the city and, if you crash with us, a plan that doesn’t even require leaving the hostel.

Halloween Night at our hostels 🦇

On Saturday, October 31, we’re throwing our own Halloween night at our hostels in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At 20:00 there’s a themed Halloween dinner at the hostel, followed by the Best Mask & Makeup Contest, with prizes for the winners. Bring your face paint.

Quiet hours at the hostel kick in at 23:00. If you’re still up for more, head out for a chill walk around the local bars, grab a few beers with the group and just chat. No pressure at all: everyone does their own thing at night.

And which bars? That’s up to the group that night. If you want some ideas, here are a few bars with recent reviews in the neighborhoods around our hostels. We’re not sure if they’re open on the 31st or what their hours are, so check with reception before you head out:

• Vegueta: I told you so, Perez. Reviews rave about their huge variety of beers.
• Triana, right next to Vegueta: La Boheme Cocktail Bar, with a terrace where you can grab a beer in the heart of the city.
• Guanarteme: The Captain 13 Bar, for beers.
• Santa Catalina and Las Canteras: Motown Bar Cerveceria, with live music according to several reviews.

Circo Del Infierno (provisional)

A horror circus under the big top: creepy characters, fire, and circus acts with a spooky twist, all without leaving the city. The Halloween weekend has shows every day.

House of Horror “Behind Bars” in Gáldar

This year the haunted house in Gáldar is a maximum-security prison, set up inside a school. Only 15 people get in per pass, so don’t leave it for the last day.

VillanoCon, in Gáldar

Two free days dedicated to villains and fantasy characters in the square in Gáldar: workshops, storytelling, costumes, karaoke and shows. It’s a family-friendly daytime plan that pairs well with the haunted house at night.

III Horror Film Festival TEROR FILM FEST

Teror has terror in its name and runs with it: its horror short film festival, this year themed “Mundo Monster”, wraps up on Halloween night with a gala and closing party.

Ingenio Haunted House

Four evenings of a haunted house in a historic building in Ingenio, including the Monday holiday. The town hall has it listed in its quarterly activities magazine, but there’s no price or sign-up info published yet.

Ecos de los Reyes, in Agüimes

Music, dance and theatre inside a museum, all centred on María de la Cruz, whom Agüimes remembers as its legendary witch. It’s not branded as a Halloween event, but few stories fit the date better.

Halloween at HANGAR37

An airsoft and laser tag park where the sets fill up with horror characters who jump into the games. You can come in costume, and the park itself warns that in other years it sold out of tickets.

More weekend plans:

• Live music in theaters: the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra plays Beethoven’s and Brahms’ Fourth Symphonies on Friday the 30th at 8:00 PM at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, and on Saturday the 31st at 8:00 PM the Pérez Galdós Theatre hosts Lorca por Dámaso in its main hall, with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra.
• In Vegueta, Teatro Guiniguada: Melania Piñero Trío and Anna Tréa, Brazilian popular music from the 23rd Tensamba Festival, Friday the 30th from 19:00 to 21:00; and the dance piece Quiso Negro by Esther Gutin, Saturday the 31st from 20:00 to 21:00. The website lists €15 next to a free-entry notice, so check at the box office to confirm.
• Theatre and ballet: LA BARRACA by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Friday 30th and Saturday 31st at 7:30 pm at the Teatro Cuyás, €12 to €23; SWAN LAKE, by the International Ballet Company, Saturday 31st at 7:00 pm at the CICCA Cultural Centre, €25, €35 and €45; and the comedy Musas, starring Yanely Hernández, Sunday 1st at 7:00 pm at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium.
• In Telde: SANTIAGO AUSERÓN PRESENTS NERANTZI, Friday the 30th at 8:30 PM at the Teatro Municipal Juan Ramón Jiménez, for €27.
• By day: Canarian folk music in Plaza de España, Saturday the 31st at 11:00; the XV Regional Wine, Cheese and Honey Fair, Saturday the 31st and Sunday the 1st in Valsequillo de Gran Canaria; and, until the 31st, the Gran Canaria Frontón King 2026, the bodyboarding championship at El Frontón in Gáldar, which only runs on days when the sea is good enough to ride.
• In Vecindario: the San Rafael Festivals run until Sunday the 1st, with Los Coquillos on Friday the 30th at 22:00 and Shaila Dúrcal on Sunday night, and María Peláe singing on Saturday the 31st at the Víctor Jara theatre.

In the south: Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés 🌴

Our three hostels are in the city, so the south is a night trip: you take the guagua there and head back in the early hours. There’s a party on three different nights, and one of them isn’t on the 31st.

HALLOWEEN FRIDAY | OR x AQUA OCEAN CLUB

The same promoters behind Sugar are heading to Meloneras on Friday with their “South Edition”: Latin tech house and reggaeton right by the sea, with costumes and entry from €5.

Noko Halloween, in Playa del Inglés (provisional)

Amapiano, afrohouse and afrobeat all on the same Friday night at Kasbah shopping centre. The entry motto is short and sweet: “Come dressed up.”

OASIS HALLOWEEN: THE RITUAL (Sunday, November 1st, provisional)

Mark the date: it’s Sunday, November 1st, not Saturday the 31st. With Monday being a holiday, Oasis is throwing its Halloween party on the last night of the long weekend, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., in a venue spanning 3,000 m² that fits up to 4,000 people.

Getting there and getting back. Line 5 of Global connects San Telmo Station with Playa del Inglés and the Maspalomas Lighthouse, and it runs all night long. The direct one, line 30, finishes early: its last departure from the Lighthouse is at 23:00. You’ll find all the times in how to get back at night.

If you’re staying a few more days: on Monday, November 2 (a public holiday), Winter Pride Maspalomas 2026 kicks off and runs until Sunday the 8th, between Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. Day one opens with the BBQ Opening Pool Party, from 12:00 to 21:00 at Hotel AxelBeach. It’s adults only, and the pool parties are ticketed.

Costumes, transport & timing 💡

Costume and door: what each room requests

There’s no common rule, so it depends on your party. Where your outfit decides whether you get in is BLACK MASK, where black is mandatory. And the age limit changes a lot: Tunnelvisions, University Halloween XL, Aqua Ocean Club and Oasis all ask for 18+, the two nights of Sugar 20 do too, and SANSA only lets in people over 25.

How to get back at night: night buses and line 5

In the city, Guaguas Municipales runs three night lines on its own schedule, “Friday, Saturday and the eve of public holidays.” For the south, Global’s line 5 runs all night, every day.

Three heads-up. The L2 is the night bus that passes through Guanarteme. On Line 5, other departures you’ll see on the timetable don’t leave from San Telmo, but from midway along the route; the ones in the table are the ones that run the full line. And in Guanarteme, Calle Fernando Guanarteme is closed between Pelayo and Churruca from October 5 until further notice, with the Line 49 bus diverted.

To plan your route, Google Maps works really well in Gran Canaria and is pretty accurate with the guaguas. Just watch out for Monday, November 2: it’s a public holiday, and on that day both Guaguas Municipales and Global run on their Sunday and holiday schedule. Double-check before you head out.

Taxi? Within the city, the urban fare starts with a flag-fall covering the first 500 meters: €4.30 on Friday, Saturday and eve-of-holiday nights, and €4.75 on Sundays and public holidays, plus a night kilometer charge of €0.90 to €1.00. Heading south is an intercity trip with a different fare we don’t have. Neither Guaguas Municipales nor Global has announced any special Halloween service; they usually give notice at the last minute, so check the timetable that week.

What the weather’s like at the end of October

Light, short sleeves by day and a bit more layers at night. These are AEMET’s averages for 1981-2010 at the airport weather station on the east coast: not a forecast, but they’ll tell you what to pack in your bag.

AEMET doesn’t publish averages for the city or for Maspalomas, so treat them as a rough guide. And remember that the clocks change on Sunday, October 25: on the 31st, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the sun sets at 18:18.

Monday, November 2nd is a public holiday!

November 1, 2026 falls on a Sunday, and in the Canary Islands the All Saints’ holiday is on Monday, November 2. It applies to Gran Canaria and the whole archipelago, so Halloween weekend turns into a three-day long weekend.

That Monday is a public holiday in eight other regions too: Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, Castile and León, Extremadura, Madrid and Navarre. Not in the Balearics, though. For shopping: Monday the 2nd is one of the holidays when general retail in Gran Canaria can open; Sunday the 1st isn’t on that list.

Where to Sleep in Gran Canaria on Halloween 🛏️

Our three Gran Canaria hostels are all in the capital: in Vegueta, Las Canteras and Guanarteme. From any of them you’ve got the city nightlife right on your doorstep, and the rest of the island is just a guagua ride away. No minimum stay for that weekend, and the buttons below already have the dates set for October 30 to November 1.
