Gran Canaria Best Festivals & All Events 2026: Your Complete Party Calendar
Gran Canaria doesn’t do quiet months. From Granca Live Fest headlined by Maroon 5 to Maspalomas Pride’s 25th anniversary, from ancient pre-Hispanic rituals where thousands dance branches into the sea to free beach concerts under the stars — this island packs more festivals, parties and cultural moments into a single year than most destinations manage in a decade.
Gran Canaria Best Festivals & All Events 2026: Your Complete Party Calendar
We’ve put together the definitive month-by-month calendar covering every festival, concert, traditional fiesta, LGBTQ+ celebration and nightlife event in Gran Canaria throughout 2026. Dates, tickets, insider tips and where to stay for each one — all in one place. 🎶
Carnival is the beating heart of Gran Canaria’s identity — and 2026 was a landmark year with the 50th anniversary edition in Las Palmas and the always-spectacular Maspalomas International Carnival. We’ve covered both in dedicated deep-dive guides, so here’s the quick rundown with links to the full stories:
Carnaval de Las Palmas 2026 — 50th Anniversary “Las Vegas”
Carnaval de Las Palmas 2026 — 50th Anniversary “Las Vegas”
Six weeks of events from January 23 to March 1, themed “Las Vegas.” Marc Anthony headlined, 117 floats in the Gran Cabalgata, and the legendary Gala Drag Queen drew global attention. The Mogollones — free street party raves on 5 nights — packed the streets around Parque Santa Catalina until 5 AM.
Key highlights:Gala Drag Queen (Feb 20) — the most visually spectacular drag competition in Spain, 7,000+ capacity, live TV broadcast. Gala de la Reina (Feb 14) — the carnival queen election with costumes weighing 60+ kg. Gran Cabalgata (Feb 28) — 7 km parade, 200,000+ spectators.
The south’s international carnival (March 10–22), centred on the Yumbo Centre in Playa del Inglés. More resort-vibes, strong LGBTQ+ identity, its own Drag Queen Gala (March 19 — where the tradition actually originated in 1986), and the famous Mogollón street parties at Yumbo until dawn.
One of Europe’s biggest bear events (March 19–29), running alongside Maspalomas Carnival with 3,000+ attendees and 60-70 events — pool parties, Bearaoke, themed club nights, Mr Bear Gran Canaria election. Based at Yumbo Centre.
🔍 Looking for “Los Indianos Las Palmas”? That’s actually on La Palma island — a different island entirely! Los Indianos is a spectacular white-powder carnival in Santa Cruz de La Palma. It’s worth a day trip but it’s not a Gran Canaria event. For Gran Canaria’s carnival experience, check the guides above. 👆

Afrodise Gran Canaria — First Edition 🎧
Afrodise Gran Canaria
The world-famous Afro House festival brand lands in Gran Canaria for the very first time. Founded by Mexican DJ Aaron Sevilla, Afrodise has built a cult following with editions in Bali, Dubai, Mykonos, Tulum, and Mallorca — and now it’s bringing that energy to one of the island’s best electronic venues. Expect a potent blend of Afro House, Latin rhythms, flamenco-electronic fusion, and Arabic percussion, all delivered with Afrodise’s signature high-production experience: dancers, audiovisual installations, and a crowd that knows exactly why they’re here.
Oasis Gran Canaria is a proper open-air venue (think Ibiza-style canyon setting) that regularly hosts electronic events — this one’s going to hit different though. 18+ only.
When: April 3, 2026
Where: Oasis Gran Canaria, Barranco del Águila, Maspalomas
Status: Confirmed — first Gran Canaria edition, tickets on sale
Insider tip: Previous Afrodise editions sell out. Oasis is about 40 minutes by bus from Las Palmas — grab tickets early. Global lines 30/05 run until late but check return times.
Monopol Music Festival 2026 — 11th Edition
Monopol Music Festival 2026
Not your typical festival. Monopol blends live music with music documentary cinema, born from the legendary Cines Monopol in Las Palmas. The 11th edition spreads across a festival week (April 2–6) of screenings and intimate gigs, building to the main outdoor concert at Parque Santa Catalina on April 11. The curation is deliberately off-mainstream — this is where you discover artists before everyone else does.
When: April 2–6 (festival week) + April 11 (main outdoor concert, from 19:00)
Where: Various venues, Las Palmas; main event at Trasera del Parque Santa Catalina
Type: Indie, alternative, electronic, experimental + music documentary cinema
Lineup: Alizzz (3× Latin Grammy-winning producer), Samantha Hudson, Lajalada + more TBA
Status: Confirmed — headliners announced, tickets on sale
Insider tip: The cinema screenings during the festival week are the hidden gem. Alizzz produced Rosalía’s early hits — his live sets are something else entirely.
Not a music festival, but absolutely worth your attention. The golden jubilee 50th edition of one of the world’s most legendary asphalt rallies — now in its second consecutive year as a full FIA World Rally Championship round. 18 special stages totaling 322 km across Gran Canaria’s most dramatic mountain roads, from La Aldea to Mogán to Tejeda. The Ceremonial Start at Plaza Santa Ana in the historic Vegueta quarter is a free spectacle, and roadside viewing on all stages is free too.
Even if you don’t know a thing about rally — the atmosphere on the stages is incredible. Locals set up BBQs, families camp overnight for the best spots, and the sound of a WRC car through a volcanic mountain tunnel is something you don’t forget. The Spanish government declared it an “Event of Exceptional Public Interest” with an estimated €40 million economic impact.
When: April 23–26, 2026 (4 consecutive days — a format first)
Where: Island-wide stages; Service Park at Estadio Gran Canaria; Ceremonial Start at Plaza Santa Ana, Las Palmas
Type: FIA World Rally Championship — motorsport spectacle
Tickets: Roadside viewing FREE. Special spectator super-stages ticketed via rallyislascanarias.com
Status: Confirmed — 50th anniversary golden jubilee edition. Full stages announced.
Insider tip: The stages around Tejeda and the interior mountain roads are the most spectacular. Get there early — best viewing spots fill up hours before cars arrive. Bring a packed lunch and sunscreen.
👉 Gran Canaria in May 2026: Pride, Identity & Island Vibes
Gran Canaria in May 2026
Maspalomas Pride by Freedom 2026 — 25th Anniversary 🏳️🌈
The big one. Maspalomas Pride is one of Europe’s largest and most iconic LGBTQ+ celebrations, and 2026 marks its landmark 25th anniversary. For one week, the Yumbo Centre in Playa del Inglés transforms into the epicentre of queer joy — with 40+ events, legendary pool parties, nightly main-stage shows, and the Grand Float Parade that’s become one of the most photographed events in the Canary Islands.
Maspalomas Pride by Freedom 2026
The 2026 edition was scaled from 11 to 7 days but the program lost zero energy. Highlights include the Sundance Pool Party at Ocean Club, the Wet & White party at Amadores Beach Club, the Ice Cream Pool Party at Seven Hotel, the Freedom Awards ceremony, and the Saturday Grand Parade along Avenida de Tirajana (starting 4 PM, 23+ floats). Tens of thousands of international visitors are expected.

An emerging electronic music and arts festival in the south. Blends electronic sets with sunset vibes at the distinctive Hangar 37 venue, featuring national and international DJs. Two editions in 2026 — this is the first one.
May 30 is the Canary Islands’ national day — and Gran Canaria goes all in. The highlight in Las Palmas is the Paseo Romero at noon: 12+ ox-drawn carretas parade through the city centre accompanied by folk music groups in traditional Canarian costume. You’ll see lucha canaria (Canarian wrestling), vela latina (traditional sailing), artisan markets selling gofio, queso de flor and local wines, and “Bailes de Taifas” (traditional folk dances on May 29). The most authentically Canarian day of the year.
Las Palmas is the Paseo Romero
When: May 30, 2026 (Saturday — regional public holiday). Pre-events from May 29.
Where: Island-wide; Las Palmas centred on Parque de Santa Catalina and Playa de Las Canteras
Type: Cultural / civic celebration — folk music, traditional sports, gastronomy

Criterio Gran Canaria 2026 — Wade’s Tech House Takeover 🎧
If you know, you know. Criterio is the event brand and label from Sevillano DJ Wade — one of Spain’s biggest electronic music exports and a tech house name that fills rooms from Ibiza’s Ants parties to clubs across Europe, the Americas, and beyond. His releases on Musical Freedom (Tiësto’s label), Interscope Records, and his own Criterio Music have made him one of the most in-demand tech house DJs internationally.
Criterio Gran Canaria has been running at Oasis since its first edition in 2023 (with Cloonee co-headlining and 260K+ TikTok likes from Wade’s recap alone), and it’s become a must-attend for the island’s electronic scene. The 2026 edition brings Wade back to the canyon alongside Chapa & Castelo and Félix (UK). Expect hybrid tech house — massive, groovy, and built for a dancefloor under the stars at one of the Canary Islands’ most spectacular open-air venues.
Oasis Gran Canaria is a 3,000 m² venue with 4,000-person capacity carved into the Barranco del Águila canyon in Maspalomas — two stages (Main + Club), food trucks, VIP areas, and a sustainability-first approach (no single-use plastics). It’s the closest thing to an Ibiza superclub that Gran Canaria has. 18+ only.
When: Saturday May 30, 2026 (from 21:00)
Where: Oasis Gran Canaria, Barranco del Águila, Maspalomas
Status: Confirmed — listed on Xceed with lineup and tickets
Insider tip: Previous Criterio GC editions sold out. Wade’s TikTok from the 2023 edition hit 260K+ likes — this is a Gen-Z favourite. Oasis is ~40 min by bus from Las Palmas (Global lines 30/05), but late returns can be tricky — sort your taxi back in advance or check if extended night bus services are running. The venue itself is an experience even before the music starts.

Noche de San Juan — The Most Magical Night of the Year 🔥
This is the one night you absolutely cannot miss if you’re in Las Palmas in June. The tradition marks the summer solstice and the founding of Las Palmas in 1478 (548th anniversary in 2026). But forget the history lesson — what you need to know is this: the entire city moves to the beach, the atmosphere is pure magic, and at midnight when everyone runs into the ocean, you’ll understand why people keep coming back. The broader Fiestas Fundacionales run roughly June 11–30 with 50+ events — concerts, lucha canaria, nocturnal walks through historic Vegueta. June 24 is an official local holiday.
When: June 23–24, 2026 (main night June 23; June 24 is official holiday). Broader fiestas ~June 11–30.

👉 What to Do in August 2026: Summer Peak & Ancient Rituals
Bajada de la Rama — Agaete 🌿
This event alone justifies a trip to Gran Canaria. A Fiesta of National Tourist Interest since 1972, the Bajada de la Rama is rooted in pre-Hispanic aboriginal rain rituals — and it’s survived for centuries because it’s genuinely, overwhelmingly spectacular.
On August 4, starting at 5 AM with “La Diana” (wake-up procession), thousands gather branches of pine, heather, eucalyptus and mimosa. By 10 AM, the entire town of Agaete — plus 40,000+ visitors — dances through the streets carrying branches, accompanied by giant papier-mâché figures (papahuevos), heading towards the sea. At the coast, everyone deposits their branches at the feet of the Virgen de las Nieves. The atmosphere is primal, joyful, and completely unique on earth. At 10 PM, “La Retreta” brings fireworks and music to close the day.
When: August 4, 2026 (fixed annual date). La Diana at 5 AM, main procession at 10 AM, La Retreta at 10 PM.
Where: Agaete, northwestern Gran Canaria (~45 min drive / 60 min bus from Las Palmas)
Type: Traditional — pre-Hispanic rain ritual, Fiesta of National Tourist Interest
Insider tip: Get there EARLY — buses fill up and roads close. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water and sun protection. The procession is physical — you’ll be walking and dancing for hours. It’s one of those things that photos don’t capture. You have to feel it.
Pablo Alborán — Global Tour KM0 hits Gran Canaria Arena on August 7. Tickets from ~€38.50 via entrees.es and tomaticket.es.
👉 Events September 2026: Culture, Beer & Pilgrimage
Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Pino — Teror 🕯️
Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Pino — Teror 🕯️
The most important patronal celebration on Gran Canaria — and one of those events that sounds purely religious until you actually go. The highlight is the Romería-Ofrenda on September 7: thousands of people walk through the night from municipalities across the island to converge on the mountain town of Teror, some barefoot, arriving at dawn. Decorated ox-carts from every corner of Gran Canaria parade with folk music groups. Free concerts by major Spanish artists. September 8 is an island-wide public holiday with special night-bus services.
This is the Canarian Camino de Santiago — a communal pilgrimage experience that’ll give you goosebumps whether you’re religious or not.

Fiesta del Charco — La Aldea de San Nicolás 🐟
Fiesta del Charco — La Aldea de San Nicolás

It’s a revival of a pre-Hispanic “embarbascada” fishing technique, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural. 10,000+ people attend. September 11 (official local holiday). Free. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting soaked.

Many municipalities organise public Finaos events preserving this tradition alongside (or instead of) imported Halloween customs. Look for events in Teror, Valleseco, Arucas, and Telde. Free, atmospheric, and genuinely local.

🌙 Nightlife & Recurring Events in Las Palmas
This section is the stuff nobody puts in a tourist guide — and it’s exactly the intel you need.
Chiringays — LGBTQ+ Beach Bar Vibes 🏳️🌈🏖️
In the Calle Eduardo Benot area near Mercado del Puerto, a stretch of inclusive beach bars along Las Canteras has become the go-to for the LGBTQ+ community and allies in Las Palmas. These “Chiringays” (as locals affectionately call them) offer cocktails, DJ sets, and a laid-back beach vibe that’s welcoming to absolutely everyone. No door policy, no dress code — just good drinks, chill beats, and the best sunset on the island. La Isleta Nest is literally a 5-minute walk away. They run year-round but peak during summer and carnival. Ask at hostel reception for the latest spots.
Chiringays — LGBTQ+ Beach Bar Vibes
Mogollones — The Street Party Raves
Free, massive open-air street parties that happen on 5 nights during carnival season in Las Palmas (around Parque Santa Catalina) and on separate nights in Maspalomas (around Yumbo Centre). DJs, multiple stages, costumes, and a crowd that doesn’t quit until 5 AM. Nobody talks about mogollones in a guide, which is exactly why you should know about them. They’re the realest part of carnival — free, unscripted, unforgettable.
Pub Crawl Las Palmas
Pub Crawl Las Palmas
Multiple pub crawl operators run regular nights in Las Palmas, typically starting near Playa de Las Canteras and working through the bars of the Triana and Mesa y López areas. Expect 4-5 bars, shots included, a group of international backpackers, and a €10-15 price tag. It’s the fastest way to find your crew if you’re travelling solo. Ask at Las Palmas Nest or La Isleta Nest reception — they’ll point you to the best current operator and might even organise one in-house.
Oasis Gran Canaria — Year-Round Electronic Venue
Beyond the one-off festivals, Oasis Gran Canaria (Barranco del Águila, Maspalomas) is worth knowing as a year-round electronic music venue — Ibiza-style open-air canyon setting hosting regular events, rotating DJ lineups, and visiting international brands like Criterio in May 2026. Check xceed.me and ra.co for upcoming events. About 40 minutes by bus from Las Palmas.
📋 More Events Worth Knowing About
Gran Canaria’s event calendar goes way deeper. Here’s everything else that’s happening — some niche, some specialist, all real and verified:
Most events happen in two zones: Las Palmas (the capital, in the north) and Maspalomas / Playa del Inglés (the resort area, in the south). They’re about 50 minutes apart by bus.
Here’s the smart move: base yourself in Las Palmas. You get a real city with incredible beaches, street-level culture, the best food scene on the island, and direct access to the northern events (Carnival at Parque Santa Catalina, LPA Beer & Music, Temudas Fest, Canarias Jazz, Noche de San Juan on Las Canteras, Granca Live Fest at the Estadio). For southern events (Maspalomas Pride, Winter Pride, Afrodise, Mogollones at Yumbo), take the 50-minute bus — affordable, easy, and you avoid paying resort hotel prices.

💡 Insider Tips for Festival Season in Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria
Getting between Las Palmas and the south: Global Gran Canaria bus lines 30 and 05 connect Las Palmas with Maspalomas / Playa del Inglés in ~50 minutes, running frequently until late. During major events (Carnival, Pride), check for extended late-night services. Taxis cost roughly €40-50 one way.
Getting from the airport: Bus line 60 to Las Palmas (~30 min, €2.30-2.95). Bus 66 direct to the south. Taxis 25-35 min to Las Palmas, 20-25 min to Maspalomas.
What to pack for beach festivals: Sunscreen (always — the Canarian sun is stronger than it feels even in “winter”), light layers for evening events, comfortable shoes for street parties, and a portable charger. Download your tickets and maps beforehand — festival WiFi is always patchy.
Budget tip: Most traditional fiestas (Noche de San Juan, Bajada de la Rama, Día de Canarias, Fiesta del Charco, Fiestas del Pino, Temudas Fest, Maspalomas Soul Festival) are completely free. You can have an incredible Gran Canaria festival experience without spending a euro on tickets.
Language: Spanish is primary, but Las Palmas is very international. English is widely understood in tourist areas. Learn “¡una cerveza, por favor!” and you’re golden. 🍺
