Cliffs of Los Gigantes, one of the most breathtaking spots in Tenerife!

We kick things off in Los Gigantes, where the cliffs rise up to 600 meters above the Atlantic Ocean. This stunning natural backdrop is perfect for adventure and nature lovers. From here, you can hop on boat trips to spot dolphins and whales, or dive into water sports like kayaking and snorkeling. It’s all part of the Teno Rural Park, a spot rich in biodiversity with tons of endemic species.

The vertical cliffs you see today are the result of relentless erosion and the powerful waves that have carved away at the cliffs, pulling back the coastline and revealing the colossal views of Los Gigantes.

*Did you know?*

For the first inhabitants of Tenerife, the world ended at the western tip of the island, where an impassable rock wall stood tall. That’s what we now call the Los Gigantes cliffs.

Masca, maybe the most incredible spot in Tenerife!

Just a few kilometers away, you’ll find the charming village of Masca. This picturesque spot, with its narrow cobblestone streets and traditional houses, looks like it jumped straight out of a fairy tale. Masca is famous for its breathtaking trail that winds down the ravine to the ocean.

The story of Masca is packed with legends of pirates and hidden treasures, and the village has kept its authenticity through the years. Here, you can dive into the culture and history of Tenerife, exploring its traditions and soaking up its natural beauty.

Despite its tricky access, it’s the second most visited natural spot in Tenerife after Teide. Its natural isolation, nestled between valleys and ravines, has helped preserve not just its biodiversity, but also its architecture and traditions for centuries. You’ll find just a handful of streets spread across four little hubs that sit atop the hills of a settlement recognized as a Site of Ethnographic and Historical Interest and a Cultural Asset.

Today, the “Cabildo de Tenerife” has launched the ecotax for accessing the natural spaces on the island. This new regulation is set to boost safety for everyone and help avoid overcrowding in these areas, leading to a significant recovery of their natural and scenic conditions.

It’s super important to take care of and respect these amazing places and the folks living in them while you visit. They’re natural wonders, two of the most incredible spots in Tenerife, and they need to be preserved forever.

To explore these amazing spots, we totally recommend crashing at Arena Nest in Puerto de Santiago. This hostel has a killer location and all the comforts you need to make the most of your stay. From Arena Nest, you’ll have easy access to both the Cliffs of Los Gigantes and Masca.

Don’t miss out on the chance to discover these amazing spots. We can’t wait to see you at Nests Hostels for an unforgettable adventure in the south of Tenerife!
