Discover constellations, planets and galaxies through an unforgettable stargazing experience in one of the best places in the world for astronomy.
If you are wondering what to do in Tenerife?
Explore the mysteries of the universe under the starry sky of Teide.
The Teide National Park is ideal to enjoy the sight of such incredible things as the rings of Saturn, the craters of the moon or infinite galaxies and nebulae. The Teide and the Cumbres de Tenerife have recently obtained the Starlight certification, which accredits them as a privileged place at international level for stargazing.
The best options for a successful observation are:
Guajara Mountain:
It is the highest peak of the amphitheater of Las Cañadas del Teide and an ideal place to observe the sky. Reaching it involves trails of some difficulty, but it is still a highly recommended site.
Surroundings of the Parador de Turismo:
If you don't want to complicate yourself too much with long walks, an equally great alternative is to choose a spot in the vicinity of the Parador de Turismo. The advantage? You can always take shelter there if the weather suddenly changes, such as rain, cold weather or even snow (however, the latter only happens a few days a year in winter, and it is usually known in advance).
Viewpoints of the Teide National Park:
The park's viewpoints are other great places for stargazing because they are located in strategic places, usually high and with excellent visibility. Llano de Ucanca is one of the best.
