United Airlines announces direct flights from New York to Tenerife
In line with the trend for sun and beach destinations, United is launching its fourth destination in Spain. They’ll kick off services between Newark (EWR) and Tenerife (TFS) with three weekly flights on a Boeing 757-200.
These are two routes that no other American airline has offered until now!
United Airlines has just announced its international flight program for 2022, and one of the coolest updates is that the airline will now offer non-stop flights from Newark Airport in New York to the Canary Islands (Tenerife South).
The flights, which are still waiting for approval from the authorities, would be as follows:
Starting June 2, 2022, there’ll be three weekly flights connecting New York’s airport with Tenerife South in the Canaries. The service will be operated by a Boeing 757-200 that seats 169 passengers.
New York airports are a real hub, just like Madrid or Barcelona. New York has a really important population concentration, and when you think about the distance to Tenerife, purchasing power, and airport connectivity across North America… It checks off a lot of the must-haves, making it the best gateway to the Canaries and even a place to grow in the future, looking towards Canada. We had an unsuccessful attempt with Miami, a flight that Air Europa operated about 10 years ago and it didn’t take off. So, looking north to New York felt strategically more viable than the other attempts we’d made.
The flight time’s about 7 hours, and there’ll be room for 169 people on each flight, happening every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 12:00 PM from Tenerife. You’ll be heading back on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 9:50 PM (local US time).
