Garachico is located in the north-east of the island of Tenerife in the region of Icod-Daute-Isla Baja.
This city was rebuilt after the eruption of the volcano of Trevejo occurred in 1706, which was then the main port of the island.
However, it has been rebuilt and is now one of the most visited towns in Tenerife with a rich architectural heritage from the 16th and 17th centuries
Its territory is characterized by volcanic rocks and more than half is covered by the Canary Pine and there is also a cliff that separates the historic center from the hinterland.
The town has a rich history and was once the main fishing and commercial port of the island after its conquest. It has a rich architectural heritage from the 16th and 17th centuries that is well preserved and has been declared a Cultural Interest Site.
The town is also known for its natural pools of El Caletón, which are one of the most famous bathing areas on Tenerife (natural pools of El Caletón).
