Family-Friendly Excursions in Tenerife – Fun for Everyone!
Tenerife is the perfect island for family fun! Some classic excursions can be pretty exhausting, but luckily, there are alternatives that let even the little ones join in on the excitement.

First off, if you’re traveling with kids, it’s super important to know what to pack in your backpack:
- Sunscreen : Even if it’s not super hot in Tenerife, the sun’s always around. If you’re doing a lot of walking, especially in Teide National Park (which is pretty desert-like), you might end up getting burned!
- Lots of water : Unfortunately, if you walk for more than a few hours, it can be tough to refill your bottle. It’s best to start prepping!
- Swimsuit: It goes without saying, wherever you go, you’ll end up at the beach sooner or later! So, why not be ready?
Excursions with kids in Tenerife. Which ones to choose?
Alright, it might sound a bit odd, but you can’t miss a visit to Teide! Bringing kids to a volcano that’s nearly 3800m high might not sound the best, but with a few tricks, it’s totally doable.
Once you reach the base of the volcano, you can hop on a cable car. This gets you super close to the summit (which you can only hike to with a special permit).
To make sure the kids have a blast, you can ride the funicular up and then take the trail down. We’re talking about an hour and a half of walking—it’s a bit steep, but definitely doable for the little ones too!
If you’re not up for climbing the volcano, Teide National Park has tons of trekking trails. Some are just 2 or 3 km long, and others go much further, but most of them are still on the plains.
There are countless trips you can take in the mountains, and one of the must-dos is a visit to Masca. In many spots, you can get pretty close by bus and then continue on foot to your destination.
If you’re looking for something a bit more chill, this park is the right choice! It’s got loads of fun for everyone, adults and kids alike, all day long.
