Eight comparsas and batucadas light up the route: Kuliquitacas del Sur, Los Guajeiros, Aborasau, Son de Abona, Los Joroperos, Los Cariocas, Batucada Baraber\u00e9 and Batucada Tamatimba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s also a <strong>costume contest<\/strong> during the parade \u2014 prizes include a ferry trip to La Gomera (individual), a hotel night at Hotel M\u00e9dano (couple), and catering for 10 at Neptuno M\u00e9dano (group). A mock funeral procession for a giant sardine \u2014 handmade by students at IES Magallanes \u2014 marches from Plaza de El M\u00e9dano to the football field, officially closing out carnival season 2026. Gender completely irrelevant \u2014 this is carnival.
